As you may know Zach King is like a magician and when he makes these videos he uses the magic of Final Cut Pro to make all of his videos/ Vines. I like this video because now I know how he shoots and how his videos is like he is doing a magic trick, For example how a toy car comes to be a real car. Zach King's videos are super cool because it relates to magic that seems like it's in one shot even thought it's many shots put together.
Challenges always happens sometimes right? Well today’s topic is about challenges in the media class. So I will be telling you some challenges that I had in the beginning of the school year. Some challenges that I had were mostly with the rocket strong video.
One of the challenges I had were the first quarter project because we had to do a lot of filming, editing and a lot of b-roll shots. But other than that I feel relieved because we are actually close to done with our first quarter video and we have put a lot of work into that video. It video was a really good story but in the beginning we didn’t know what the story was going to be about.
Next, So first of all we needed to find what the project was going to be about and we thought oh it can either be about the boy or it can be about how the family stuck together and we chose how the family suck together. After that we had to contact the people and if they said no we both came up with a plan B too but Aron and I got lucky because we didn’t have to go with plan B which was about biofuels and how it turns out to be electricity. After that we planned a day to film and we got one day down but we also needed more interviews of the family so we just recently got the dad’s interview and all we had to do now is edit.
Finally, We had to do the editing part which took days to edit, I don’t know why this happens to me because when you start editing for the first time it seems easy but when you do it again it seems like it becomes more hard and it slowly becomes even harder. Other than that Aron and I are close to finishing our editing and we are close to the due date too which is in two weeks from now. Aron and I feel kind of relieved because we took a lot of time editing, filming, and finding b-roll for this important video that is going to everyone’s T.V.
In conclusion, The media class is the right one for you if you enjoy doing things that are related to filming and editing. Also everyone in the media class is super playful, sometimes funny and very friendly. You also learn a lot in the media class so after you graduate middle school you can be like a junior filmmaker or photographer.
This may not help all of us but it might help other people who usually use drones to take videos . This might help us as media students too because we have drone that we don't really use but maybe after everyone watches this video we might finally use the drone again. This is also going to help us because this way we know what to do when we use these tips for panoramic drone shooting.
So during this summer we have done a lot and we also have been learning a lot about media, this was media training was held in our schools library and all of the Kaua’i kids that were in the media class from our school and other schools on Kaua’i came to learn about media over the summer. Well over the summer my partner Aron Taguiam and I went through a lot of work to find an interesting story to find and we found out about rocket strong. Rocket strong is about a boy who got cured from Chondro Sarcoma which is a type of bone cancer that is in your head.
First, Aron and I already finished our first draft and now we are done filming and we are fixing and shortening our video to finish our 2nd and our final draft because our video got chose to be on Hiki No and our due date for this video is on September 5th which is creeping up really fast. We are so excited and we are really working hard on this project too because we want to get everything perfect also we have been meeting the family and we have also been shooting a lot of b-roll, interviews, and we have been also done a lot of work with everything which kind of made us frustrated but we have done a lot of work.
Next, We have done a lot of shooting and editing but for now we are working to finish and get some feedback from Mr.M so we know what we can approve upon for this video and so we know what we can approve upon for the next news story which is happening next quarter by next week Wednesday or Thursday. Our filming part is good but we are now working on the editing because we are trying to figure out how we can shorten our video because it’s 30 seconds over and we usually have the news story videos at 2 min max. Other than that we we have done a lot of progress with our news story.
Finally, All we have to do now is to post our second draft and final draft of our rocket strong video. After that we can get some feedback on what we can approve upon so we can fix it up a little bit. After that we can send it to hiki no and we can finally be with our permanent partners and we can start on our 2nd news story.
In conclusion, our summer camp video / 1st quarter video is turning out to be a real story that you will enjoy. We have been working a lot with this video and we have done a great job with our video so far. Remember to watch Hiki No on PBS on Thursdays at 7pm.
Hey guys now it’s time to gain some knowledge again because school just officially started. For today’s topic it’s about new goals for this school year and for this topic I will be telling you all of the topic’s I hope to improve this year. So the topics are still to improve on the editing techniques, Filming with the 60D’s, and also finding the perfect sound in the audio.
First off, editing is the long process step after filming an interview or just a shot of something. I always had a hard time when I started editing because sometimes I would get totally confused because you have to finish a shot at a right time and find the audio that matches the shot of an interview. In an interview some people usually think of what they want to say so sometimes they say “um” or there is a pause that you always have to look at and cut out and that’s another way it throws me off track of what I’m doing.
Next, filming with the 60D’s are sometimes hard because you have to change the ISO or you may also have to change the white balance so you can get the right lighting in your interview. That was a problem for me because I would always forget to to change the white balance so my shots would come out a little dark but the editing part helps a lot because you can change the lighting to make it become lighter or dimmer. That was something I would always get mixed up with all the time.
Finally, Sound and audio is mostly very important because it has to match up with the interview shot and it has to always go up to the max level which is -6 to 0. I liked audio the most because all you have to do mostly is to watch the levels and match up the audio to the interview shot. But sometime I have hard time with the sound because when it comes to the editing part it might sound a little different so you have to tweak up or lower the volume.
In conclusion, there are so many goals that you may accomplish in you life to make you succeed. There are also many goals that you have to achive in media too. In media this year I hope I accomplish these goals.
I think this blog post will help the newbies with editing. I liked this video because
it really relates to our media class and It's all from the drone and maybe this will help all of us when we use a drone and which cameras to use to take videos. This will also help us accomplish our editing techniques.
